President Donald Trump and President Xi Jinping of China both spoke Thursday of cooperation and common interests during joint statements from Beijing.
“Our respective success serves the common interests of both countries,” President Xi said. “For China and the United States, win-win cooperation is the only right choice and the pathway toward a better future.”
During Trump’s visit, over $250 billion in investment agreements and business deals were signed, according to President Xi.
The two leaders said that they agreed to fully implement the United Nations Security Council resolutions to financially cut North Korean off from the world unless it dismantles its nuclear weapons program.
“The entire civilized world must unite to confront the North Korean menace,” Trump said. “We discussed our commitment to the complete denuclearization of North Korea. We agreed not to replicate the failed approaches of the past.”
“On the Korean Penninsula nuclear issue, We reiterated the firm commitment to achieving denuclearization of the peninsula and upholding international non-proliferation regime,” Xi said.
