Former President Barack Obama told Fox News’ Chris Wallace that there was no political influence in investigations led by the Justice Department or the FBI.
Wallace asked Obama about the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s mishandling of classified information and whether or not she would be “protected.”
“I guarantee it,” Obama said in the April 2016 interview. “I guarantee that there is no political influence in any investigation conducted by the Justice Department or the FBI not just in this case, but in any case.”
“Full stop. Period,” he added.

The comments are in direct conflict with text messages between disgraced FBI official Peter Strzok and his mistress FBI lawyer Lisa Page. The two showed extreme bias in the text messages and even referenced actions that were allegedly undertaken by senior leadership at the bureau to prevent a serious investigation of Clinton and impede Donald Trump’s campaign for president.
It is unclear from the interview if Obama was simply uninformed about the culture and goings on at the DOJ and FBI or just attempting to cover them up.
