President Donald Trump said that he is happy that all three American men have been released by North Korea and that he will meet them at Joint Base Andrews when they arrive early Thursday morning.
“I am pleased to inform you that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is in the air and on his way back from North Korea with the 3 wonderful gentlemen that everyone is looking so forward to meeting. They seem to be in good health. Also, good meeting with Kim Jong Un. Date & Place set,” Trump tweeted Wednesday. The meeting is widely expected to take place in late May or early June.
The detainees, Kim Hak-song, Tony Kim and Kim Dong-chul, will land at approximately 2:00 a.m. EDT Thursday morning and the president intends to be there when they do.
The president has hinted over the past week that the three men would be released, but the exact timing has been kept secret until today.
