President Donald Trump announced on Twitter Sunday that he would officially ask the Department of Justice to look into the circumstances of the surveillance on his run for president in 2016.
“I hereby demand, and will do so officially tomorrow, that the Department of Justice look into whether or not the FBI/DOJ infiltrated or surveilled the Trump Campaign for Political Purposes – and if any such demands or requests were made by people within the Obama Administration!” he tweeted.
The announcement came after a flurry of social media posts by the president in which he voiced his frustration of Robert Mueller widening his collusion probe to include other countries.
“The Witch Hunt finds no Collusion with Russia – so now they’re looking at the rest of the World. Oh’ great!” he said.
After investigating for more than a year, Mueller’s Special Council has not found any evidence that Trump colluded with the Russian government to influence the outcome of the election.
