President Donald Trump will hold another Make America Great Again rally on Thursday in Evansville, Indiana.
Trump heads to Evansville to bolster Republican Senate candidate Mike Braun who is down 12 points to the incumbent Democrat Joe Donnelly in the latest Trafalgar Group poll.
The president has had some success turning races for his favored candidate in recent months.
A Trump endorsement is “determinative,” said veteran GOP pollster Whit Ayres. “A Trump endorsement can totally change the complexion of a race.”
The power of Trump’s endorsement was evident in the Georgia gubernatorial primary runoff between Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle and Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp. Just days before Trump put his support behind Kemp, he was trailing in polls. Kemp went on to win the race by more than 40 points.
“Simply because Donald Trump said ‘I’m supporting the other guy,’ [Cagle’s] image took a 30-point hit,” marveled one shell-shocked national Republican strategist familiar with the Georgia race. “If you got caught in a sex scandal or Anthony Weiner-type situation, I don’t think your numbers move that quickly.”
The rally is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. CT at the Ford Center where the doors will open at 4:00 p.m. CT. Live streams are available HERE.
