Judge Brett Kavanaugh will appear before the Senate Judicial Committee Wednesday for a second day of planned hearings on his confirmation as the next justice on the U.S. Supreme Court.
Day one was filled with Democrat Senators acting like #resist protestors making ridiculous motions, raising illogical objections on a process that has gone the same way for decades and raising money for their 2020 presidential bids. The protest motions were organized over the weekend on a call led by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).
Today’s hearing is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. ET and will offer each member of the committee 30 minutes to ask questions, provide commentary or continue to protest. Later, a second round of questioning will allow each member 20 additional minutes for follow-up questions, more self-aggrandizement, political campaigning for 2020, or whatever.
There are rumors that the Democrats will stage a walk-out, but walking away from a Constitutional responsibility is likely to provide optics that Senators in states other than California, New York and Illinois won’t be able to stomach.
