Disney – Pixar released the teaser trailer for Toy Story 4 on Monday and after watching it, I still have no idea what the movie will be about.
The upcoming release is helmed by a new director and shaped by a new writer. Josh Cooley takes the directing wheel with Stephany Folsom taking screenwriting duties. While the trailer offers zero hint to the storyline, the synopsis provided by Disney is only slightly more helpful:
Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called “Forky” to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy.
The toys end up in the real world after being evicted by a fork… or something. Whatever. With a new writer and director, it’s unclear if the trademark humor will still shine or if this will be a sequel done just because it could be.
Toy Story 4 is set to be in theaters in the summer of 2019.
