After Democrats reject a Republican border funding deal, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich weighs in on which side is winning the fight in the long run.
“They are really just one disastrous crime away from looking really bad,” Gingrich said on Fox & Friends Wednesday. “For the Democrats to decide they don’t want to protect America, is a tough position for them to take.”
The Trump administration signaled Tuesday that they would likely accept a continuing resolution that would fund the government through the holidays. The agreement is expected to contain no additional funding for the border wall and will take the battle into January when Nancy Pelosi retakes the gavel in a Democrat-run House of Representatives.
All spending bills must originate in the House and Pelosi is unlikely to give the White House the $5 billion it has requested to fund protections at the southern border.
