2020 Democratic presidential candidate Marianne Williamson has qualified to partake in the second round of Democrat debates at the end of July, according to the New York Times.
The self-help author is one of 14 candidates who have already qualified for the second debate by reaching the threshold for both donations and in polling numbers. Williamson, along with 13 candidates, has received donations by at least 65,000 people and has at least 1% support in at least three of the qualifying polls, the NYT reported.
Williamson is currently polling around 1% along with Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand according to Vogue, who published a story on the women who are running for president.
The Vogue article did not include Williamson but included the other five female Democratic candidates.
Williamson gained some notoriety when her past tweets resurfaced, many of which included spiritual metaphors. She said that she plans to defeat President Donald Trump by using “love,” according to her closing statement at the first Democratic debate June 26.
“Mr. President, if you’re listening, I want you to hear me, please,” Williamson said at the debate. “You have harnessed fear for political purposes and only love can cast that out.”
Candidates who have not yet met both of the thresholds include former Maryland Rep. John Delaney, Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper and NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio, according to the NYT.
There are six spots open for the second debates, which will occur on July 30 and July 31.
