FRONTON, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol Agents were shot at while patrolling the Rio Grande river.
Early this morning, agents assigned to the Rio Grande City Station Marine Unit reported they were fired upon from the Mexican riverbank while patrolling near Fronton, Texas. The agents saw four subjects with automatic weapons who shot more than 50 rounds at them. While none of the agents were injured, the boat, a 21 Foot RSDV Riverine Shallow Draft Vessel, was hit several times.
This incident is currently under investigation.
