EDINBURG, Texas –Border Patrol agents seize more than 48 lbs. of liquid methamphetamine in a failed smuggling attempt at the Falfurrias checkpoint. The drugs seized are valued at $1.5M.
Yesterday, agents assigned to Border Patrol’s Falfurrias checkpoint referred a Hyundai sedan for further investigation following a K-9 alert during the immigration inspection. During a search of the vehicle, agents discovered the liquid methamphetamine. The two occupants of the vehicle were arrested and turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Earlier in the day, Border Patrol working in Brownsville, Texas, observed several subjects carrying suspected narcotics near the Rio Grande. The agents seized three bundles of marijuana and arrested the four smugglers. The marijuana weighed more than 65 lbs. with value of $52K.
The public is encouraged to take a stand against crime in their communities and report suspicious activity at 800-863-9382.
Even with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, human smugglers continue to try these brazen attempts with zero regard for the lives they endanger nor to the health of the citizens of our great nation. The U.S. Border Patrol agents of the Rio Grande Valley Sector will continue to safeguard the nation and community against these criminal elements.
