CBP Officers Intercept Hard Narcotics Worth Over $1 Million At The World Trade Bridge

LAREDO, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations (OFO) officers intercepted hard narcotics with an estimated street value of more than $1 million in one enforcement action at the World Trade Bridge.

“Officers at the World Trade Bridge continue to excel in their targeting strategies that help reduce the flow of narcotics entering our country,” said Port Director Gregory Alvarez, Laredo Port of Entry.

CBP officers seized 58 pounds of methamphetamine at
World Trade Bridge hidden within an express
consignment shipment.

The seizure occurred on Monday, June 1st at the World Trade Bridge when CBP officers assigned to the cargo facility encountered an express consignment vehicle arriving from Mexico.  The 2009 International tractor and shipment was referred for a canine and non-intrusive imaging system inspection, resulting in the discovery of 58.42 pounds of alleged methamphetamine discovered within an express consignment shipment.

The narcotics have an estimated street value of $1,168,438.

CBP officers seized the narcotics. The case was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
