A&E Network Wins “Woke Award Of The Week”

Ever heard the saying, “Don’t cut off your nose to spite your face?” A&E network was not privy to the wisdom contained in that old expression when they decided it was better to be WOKE than wise by canceling the show Live PD.

The A&E network responded to the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis with the following statement:

“This is a critical time in our nation’s history, and we have made the decision to cease production on Live PD. Going forward, we will determine if there is a clear pathway to tell the stories of both the community and the police officers whose role it is to serve them. And with that, we will be meeting with community and civil rights leaders as well as police departments.”

In a rush to appease the violent mobs in the street and avoid the wrath of the cancel culture, A&E pre-emptively erased Live Pd from the line-up. The message sent to many people is that A&E equates what happened to George Floyd in Minneapolis as somehow relevant to police arresting people for committing crimes on their once hit show.  By taking a politically correct knee, A&E is complicit in supporting the false narrative that all cops are monsters, and by extension, insinuating that fans of the show are just as bad because they enjoy watching the program.

A&E decided that siding with the media and the mobs at the expense of its loyal fans was the high road to a virtuous Valhalla. In an ironic twist of fate, the network was not a victim of the Woke-Police, but a victim of the ratings-police.  A&E found out there is no fury like that of a fanbase scorned, as they suffered a 49% drop in primetime viewership between June 11th and June 19th, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The ramifications affected more than just primetime, too. Total average daily viewership dropped sharply by 36%, which represents a 42% decline in the 18-49 age group and minus 46% among those 25-54. Even Dan Abrams, the host of Live PD Nation claimed to be out of the parent companies loop:

The “Live PD Nation” fanbase has been vocal on social media, encouraging a boycott of the A&E network until the show returns. A&E said in a statement to the Wall Street Journal: “We are continuing to listen to both community leaders and ‘Live PD’ fans to find a way to serve both moving forward.”

Should Live PD make a return to the network, don’t expect anything remotely similar to the show that once was.  Rather, be ready for the social justice version that no-doubt will drive a further wedge between the fans and A&E.  The radical progressives have made it very clear that in addition to burning buildings, beating people, demanding police defunding, and opposing capitalism, they want to erase or edit everything you watch on television. The zombies are at the gate, and the lock isn’t holding.

Tune in next week to find out who gets the next “WOKE” award.
