Chris Cuomo Accuser Says She Was ‘Disgusted’ By CNN Host’s ‘Hypocrisy’

A woman accusing then-CNN anchor Chris Cuomo of sexual misconduct came forward with allegations that the news host sexually harassed her after seeing Cuomo’s attempts to discredit accusers of his brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

“Hearing the hypocrisy of Chris Cuomo’s on-air words and disgusted by his efforts to try to discredit these women, my client retained counsel to report his serious sexual misconduct against her to CNN,” Debra Katz, the lawyer for the accuser who is choosing to remain anonymous, said in a statement.

CNN first suspended Cuomo “indefinitely” on Tuesday following the release of evidence from the attorney general of New York, Letitia James, that Cuomo worked with his brother Andrew on communications strategies regarding sexual assault allegations against the former governor. The network then hired a law firm, Cravath, Swaine & Moore, to investigate Cuomo’s conduct.

Following the results of the review, CNN fired Cuomo late Saturday, stating that “additional information has come to light.”

Katz said that her client’s allegations against the CNN anchor led to his firing.

“Last night, CNN acted promptly on my client’s complaint and fired Mr. Cuomo,” Katz said. “My client came forward at this time because she felt in sharing her story and related documentation, she could help protect other women.”

Cuomo responded to his firing in a statement posted to his social media accounts.

“This is not how I want my time at CNN to end but I have already told you why and how I helped my brother,” Cuomo said.

The firing also followed allegations made by former ABC producer Shelley Ross, who accused Cuomo of groping her at a party in 2005.

“When Mr. Cuomo entered the Upper West Side bar, he walked toward me and greeted me with a strong bear hug while lowering one hand to firmly grab and squeeze the cheek of my buttock,” Ross alleged.
