INDIO, Calif. – El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents arrested a United States citizen attempting to smuggle methamphetamine Tuesday morning.
At approximately 3 a.m., agents conducted a vehicle stop on a silver 2016 Chevy Impala on I-10, east of Golf Center Parkway exit. In a consensual search of the vehicle, agents discovered two duffel bags with several small vacuum sealed packages, located in the trunk. The packages contained a white crystal-like substance that tested positive for methamphetamine.
The driver was found to be in possession of 87.4 pounds of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $104,880.
The driver, vehicle, and narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
