Top Med School Uses CRT To Train Medical Professionals

The University of California San Diego’s medical school is using critical race theory as a part of its curriculum to educate its students, a report shows.

“The Woke Invasion of Racial Politics into UCSD Medical Education,” a report, by Do No Harm, a group of medical professionals working to “protect healthcare from radical, divisive and discriminatory ideology,” says the medical school has a goal of “dismantling racism” through its curriculum. Aspects of the curriculum include lectures, protests and resources created “primarily in the wake of George Floyd,” according to the report.

“Patient health and well-being depend on future physicians learning medicine – not activism. UCSD’s increasingly injecting racial politics into its medical school curricula and departments is most disturbing and dangerous,” Do No Harm board chair Dr. Stanley Goldfarb told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “Medical students need to learn that individuals have different health needs, which is crucial to providing the best treatment to patients. Medical schools should emphasize that it is unacceptable to separate patients by race and provide different levels of care on that basis.”

The medical school created an “antiracism lab” with the goal of finding opposition to racism, an “antiracism book club” and an “Anti-Discrimination Task Force” with required antiracist training, the report found. The school’s “Family Medicine Diversity and Anti-Racism Committee” is made up of a diverse faculty to strive toward upholding its main principles of “empathy” and “anti-racism.”

The school provides resources specifically for white students, from Citizenship and Social Justice and How to Be an Anti-Racist by Ibram X. Kendi, the report stated. Lectures titled “Strategies to Address Race-Based Stress” and “Social Justice and Mental Health” have been held at the school.

The school of medicine’s website has access to the school’s anti-racism, diversity, equity and inclusion resources.

UCSD School of Medicine did not immediately respond to the DCNF’s request for comment.
