JD Vance Takes Time Out Of Speech To Pray For Children Killed In Shooting As Left Snipes At Christians |

Vice President J.D. Vance dedicated time out of his speech on Thursday to pray for the two children who tragically died at the hands of a transgender shooter in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Robin Westman, a trans-identifying male, shot through a stained-glass window at the Annunciation Catholic Church on Wednesday and killed two children ages eight and ten. During a speech in La Crosse, Wisconsin, Vance paused to say a Catholic prayer for the children after a slew of Democrats scolded Christians for offering their “prayers.”

“If you are the praying type, I would ask you to join me in prayer. This is a prayer for the two little kids who lost their lives yesterday, and this is a prayer we say a lot in my church and I’ve always found it very meaningful. It’s very short,” Vance began. “‘Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.’ Amen.”

Democrats have scoffed at the idea of saying a prayer for the deceased children and the other victims. Democratic Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey told those of faith during a Wednesday morning press conference that they should not be offering their “thoughts and prayers” as the impacted children were praying when the shooting happened.

Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki wrote on X that people should stop with their prayers, as it is supposedly “not enough” to stop mass shootings and tragedies.

“Prayer is not freaking enough. Prayers does not end school shootings. prayers do not make parents feel safe sending their kids to school. Prayer does not bring these kids back. Enough with the thoughts and prayers,” Psaki wrote.

Democratic Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar and CNN’s Dana Bash praised Frey’s statements about prayer during a Wednesday segment on “Inside Politics,” with Bash saying it “sent chills down [her] spine.”

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed on Thursday that Westman wrote “multiple anti-Catholic [and] anti-religious statements” in his manifesto and on his firearms. He also called for President Donald Trump to be killed and wrote that “6 million wasn’t enough,” a direct reference to the six million Jews killed during the Holocaust.

Westman confessed in his manifesto that he regretted being trans and wished he had “never brainwashed” himself. He fantasized about killing children and honored the Sandy Hook school shooting that occurred in 2012. Following the shooting, he took his own life with a firearm at the back of the church.
