Somali Daycare Manager Claims Business Broken Into – What Was Supposedly Stolen is … Curious

A manager of the Nokomis Daycare Center – also known as “The Learing Center” – announced Wednesday that the business had been broken into and the only thing stolen was documentation.

Oddly, the thief/thieves went through a concrete block wall, sometime early in the morning and took enrollment records, employee records, and ripped some pages out of the company checkbook. After announcing this, the manager went on to blame the video that exposed likely fraudulent operations at Somali daycare centers.

“It’s sad that a video can cause all of this,” said Nasrulah Mohamed, the day care’s manager. “We are not a part of any harmful thing that’s being said.”

It is notable that the only things now missing are exactly the records that may have made it possible for the daycare to prove that it was in compliance. Instead, investigators will rely on bank records and tax records to reconstruct the company’s income and expenditures.

As the daycare’s team continues to evolve the story, more information comes to light that contradicts their claims.

Now, the Trump administration has frozen federal childcare payments to Minnesota and may also freeze payments to California due to massive fraud and negligent oversight.

“Deputy HHS Secretary Jim O’Neill announced Tuesday that the agency froze all federal child care payments to Minnesota as officials investigate allegations of widespread fraud in the state’s subsidy system. The funding freeze will extend to other states as federal officials review how taxpayer dollars are used, according to multiple reports.”

The Department of Justice is also focusing resources states suspected of “industrial levels of fraud”, including Minnesota and California.
