Lara Trump Suggests ‘Many’ Family Members May Run For Office

President Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law Lara Trump suggested several family members may pursue political office during a Wednesday episode of “Pod Force One with Miranda Devine.”

Host Miranda Devine asked on the podcast if “Trump 2028” discussions referred to a family member besides the president and whether she would ever run for the White House. The president’s daughter-in-law noted she had considered seeking a Senate seat twice and said she would not rule out an eventual run for the presidency.

“I have looked at my father-in-law over the past 11 almost 12 years now. And I’ve watched the impact that he’s been able to make in people’s lives,” she said. “And it’s amazing. Look, he’s dealt with hell … But I’ve also seen the good that can be done. And so it’s really inspired me and I think it’s inspired everyone in our family. So much so that I’ve considered running for a possible Senate seat. So I would never say never to anything.”

“I do think if the time is right, I would consider something. And I don’t know what that would be and what opportunities might lie ahead for me,” she added. “But I would say that at this point, we’ve all kind of dipped our toe in the water of politics enough to know that it’s something I think that possibly interests many of us in our family. And I know the Democrats will love to hear that, that it may not end just with Donald Trump. But I do think the timing has to be right for all of us.”

Lara Trump’s husband Eric Trump also did not rule out potentially running for president during a November episode of “Pod Force One.”

Donald Trump Jr. ruled out a 2028 presidential run to Mediaite in March, noting his friendship with Vice President JD Vance and his efforts to get him nominated in 2024.

“I’ve always said, while I’ll never 100% rule it out down the line, I have ZERO interest in running for office in 28 or anytime soon,” he also wrote in a May X post.

NewsNation contributor Chris Cillizza said he believed Trump Jr. was the sole Republican who could potentially defeat Vance for the 2028 GOP nomination, but added that he did not anticipate the president’s son campaigning against the vice president during a December live stream on his YouTube channel.

Trump asserted that Vance was “probably favored” to carry the Make America Great Again (MAGA) mantle in 2028 during an August White House ceremony. He said Secretary of State Marco Rubio was “also somebody that maybe would get together with JD in some form.”

Vance told Devine that there would not be “tension” with Rubio about who would lead a potential 2028 presidential ticket during an October episode of “Pod Force One,” saying the secretary of state was his “best friend in the administration.”
