Iranian Drone Attack Strikes US Consulate In Dubai

A drone struck the United States Consulate in Dubai, UAE on Tuesday, one day after a similar Iranian attack on the U.S. embassy in Saudi Arabia, Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed.

As U.S. and Israeli forces continue to strike targets in the country, Iran has launched missiles and drone attacks across the region, hitting multiple neighboring nations. In a presser on Tuesday afternoon, Sec. Rubio told reporters that a drone struck the parking lot at the U.S. Consulate, causing a fire in the chancellery building. “All personnel are accounted for,” he said.

Diplomatic sources earlier told Fox News that the consulate was hit but did not specify where on the grounds the drone struck. Additional details are limited, but no casualties have been reported at the time of this post.

The US State Department urged American citizens to depart from the UAE following the US strikes on Iran, and Secretary Rubio explained that Americans still in the area can call 1-202-501-4444 for assistance, and outlined the steps being taken to ensure their safety. Iran responded to the US strikes by launching missile and drone attacks to US allied Middle Eastern nations according to the BBC.

Social media users shared video footage reportedly of the drone strike depicting what is believed to be the US consulate in Dubai on fire.

The consulate and many surrounding buildings have already been fully or partially evacuated before the strike according to Fox News.

The drone strike caused a limited fire near the US Consulate that was subsequently put out by authorities according to a Reuters report. There were no injuries reported from the fire according to Reuters.

The US State Department has yet to publicly release any other details on the incident.

The US State Department did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
