THAT WAS FAST! Iran Reportedly Shutters Strait Of Hormuz Again After Accusing Israel Of Ceasefire Violations

Iran has reportedly closed the Strait of Hormuz to all oil tankers Wednesday after the country accused Israel of violating the ceasefire agreement by striking targets in Lebanon.

State media in Iran announced that they had suspended the passage of oil tankers through the Strait after Israel repeatedly bombed targets in Lebanon in violation of a newly-brokered ceasefire, according to i24News correspondent Ariel Oseran. The strikes were reportedly against Hezbollah targets in Beirut and the surrounding areas, which were characterized as the heaviest of the conflict.

“Iran has suspended the passage of oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz in response to Israeli strikes in Lebanon, the IRGC’s Fars News reports,” Oseran tweeted. “Earlier today, two oil tankers were able to transit the strait ‘with permission from Iran,’ Fars stated.”

PBS correspondent Liz Landers wrote on X that she had asked President Donald Trump about Lebanon’s status in the ceasefire, to which he said that they were not included.

“Because of Hezbollah,” the president said, according to Landers. “They were not included in the deal. That’ll get taken care of too. It’s alright.”

Landers then reportedly asked Trump whether he was okay with Israel continuing their strikes, to which the president said that it was “part of the deal,” before hanging up after being asked about his threat against Iran’s civilization.

Trump did tell the New York Post that in-person talks with Iran would happen “very soon,” though he did not offer a specific time and said that Vice President JD Vance might not attend due to security concerns.

Lebanon criticized Israel’s attack on X, calling the strikes “barbaric” and stating that it proved Israel “demonstrated their contempt for all international laws and norms.”

“This dangerous escalation places full responsibility on the Israeli entity for its repercussions, and we affirm that the continuation of these aggressive policies will only lead to further tension and a complete lack of stability, at a time when all are most in need of de-escalation and respect for commitments,” the statement from the country’s presidency, originally in Arabic, read in part.

The reported closure of the Hormuz comes as Trump threatened tariffs against any country that supplies Iran with weapons during the ceasefire agreement. The U.S. also reportedly struck Iran’s Kharg Island on Tuesday morning, hours before the 8 p.m. deadline.

Oil prices collapsed in the wake of the ceasefire agreement, with Brent crude trading at $95 per barrel as of noon Wednesday.
