The recent New York oped characterizes President Trump’s efforts to reform the Smithsonian as an assault on America’s future.  This is quite the opposite:  the President is trying to purge the metaphorical extended release culture drugs permeating America’s society, including the entertainment industry, the education system, the media and national institutions.

Because the President lacks the direct legal authority to unilaterally fire the Smithsonian’s independent leadership or immediately dismantle internal exhibits, these orders systematically leverage budgetary pressure, the Board of Regents, and the surrounding federal sidewalks to force compliance.
