Mullin Says DHS Has Flagged More Than 300,000 Possible Noncitizens on Voter Rolls

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin says his department has now flagged more than 300,000 possible noncitizens on state voter rolls, up from the 250,000 it announced in July.

“We can get access to the information. And that’s how we found the 250,000. That number is actually pushed north of 300,000,” Mullin told Newsmax host Carl Higbie on Friday.

He said the department is working with the Justice Department and checking names against U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services records. “We can tell if they’re registered to vote, if they’re legally in this country or not,” he said.

Mullin said DHS has more than 1,600 investigations open and more than 100 convictions so far.

He said records showing who actually voted arrive only after ballots are cast. “I can’t say that they voted or not. We’re still going through that,” he said.

He repeated the figures in a Fox News interview, describing roughly 300,000 potential cases under review. “All we’re trying to do is make sure we secure our elections,” Mullin said, accusing some states of hiding who voted in past elections.

“They’re not being transparent with their elections. They’re not being transparent with who voted in past elections,” he said.

ICE Names More Accused Voters

Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been releasing names as the election nears. The Daily Caller reported Friday that ICE documents identify 19 more foreign nationals accused of registering or voting illegally in federal, state and local elections.

Those named include illegal immigrants with criminal records as well as lawful permanent residents, from countries including El Salvador, Somalia and Lithuania, according to the documents.

ICE announced another round of arrests on Oct. 28 in what it calls a nationwide crackdown on voter fraud, including people it says voted illegally in the 2020 and 2024 elections.

The July figure covered California, Nevada, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. DHS told Pennsylvania officials it matched voter rolls to immigration records using names, birth dates, phone numbers and addresses rather than Social Security numbers, Votebeat reported.

The department said matches on more data points carry higher confidence and asked the state to review each of the 14,576 names it flagged there.

State officials have pushed back. Nevada Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar, a Democrat, called the numbers “wildly speculative at best,” and the administration has not released its full methodology.

In California, the UCLA Voting Rights Project and the immigrant group CHIRLA found 8,880 of roughly 20,930 names on a Justice Department list were not on the state’s voter file, the Associated Press reported.

The groups said at least 22 people on that list are U.S. citizens.

Prosecutions so far are far smaller than the flagged totals. CBS News reported that 156 people had been charged with voting fraud-related offenses since the start of the Trump administration.

Mullin predicted Democrats would lose on Tuesday but said a Democratic win would not change the department’s work. “They’re not going to keep us from doing our job,” he told Newsmax.
