Guam’s Homeland Security Department released a Fact Sheet informing locals on what to do in the case of an imminent missile threat from North Korea.
The document contains instructions for pre-attack preparations, what to do during an attack and actions to perform once the attack is over.
Guam’s inhabitants should “expect to stay inside for at least 24 hours after the attack,” the fact sheet instructs. But, if caught outside: “Do not look at the flash or fireball – it can blind you,” it ominously warns.
Once the attack is over, people should “stay away from damaged areas, areas marked ‘radiation hazard’ or ‘HAZMAT.'” because “radiation cannot be seen, smelled or otherwise detected by human sense.”
As an additional resource, CDN pulled a post from the archives on how to prepare for radiation and radioactive fallout. The post was written after the Fukushima meltdown but has several preparation tips that would be useful for anyone with the potential to be subjected to high radiation and/or radioactive fallout.
