Levee South of Houston, Texas fails, Residents told to ‘Get Out Now’

Brazoria County officials have warned residents to flee as the Brazos river has breached the levee at Columbia Lakes.

Columbia Lakes is a resort community of about 1,000 residents located north of East Columbia.

The Brazos was forecast to crest near West Columbia around 1 am Wednesday morning 4.5 feet above flood stage. The river is expected to create major flooding in the area and with the levee compromised, it will be much worse.
