On his web show “Liberty Report” former Republican Congressmen Ron Paul commented on the recent meeting between President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin labeling it a success.
“I would say this was significant diplomacy,” said Paul. The libertarian and former presidential candidate argued that the neocons aren’t very happy because Trump sounded pretty reasonable:
“I would say that this was significant diplomacy. It has to be that the neocons aren’t very happy because Trump sounded pretty reasonable. And I think Trump won on this. And I don’t think Putin was seen in a bad light.”
Paul stressed the importance of discussing things face to face labeling the Trump-Putin face to face meeting ‘very worthwhile’:
“Just talking to people face to face I think is so significant and I thought it was very worthwhile. The problems are still out there.”
Paul finished by adding that he was delighted to see Trump and Putin go through the press conference and claimed the world didn’t suffer from the summit. Paul was optimistic that the meeting will be a beginning rather than an end.
“I was delighted to see them go through, have the press conference … I think the world didn’t suffer from the summit and hopefully, it can be a beginning rather than an end.”
