Dr. Tony Evans Our Post-Modern MLK, Jr.

As a Historian, I notice patterns. These are all patterns that form out of certain particular habits. Some habits are for the better. Some for the worse. However, one pattern I took in truth to notice is the one that resembles Martin Luther King, Jr. – who was a man of principle and determination. With that being said, we live in a new America. A post-Modern America. If you are a Christian holding onto traditional values in faith, we are no longer the home team. In America, we are the minority – swimming upstream now like Salmon.

This brings me to Dr. Tony Evans of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship out of Dallas, Texas. I have been following this man, who’s been lifted to his position of spiritual authority by God, for many years now. Living in rural Northern California, it’s impossible to travel to Dallas. Especially with two girls. Now, the point to all of this? Dr. Evans is the post-Modern version of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. But who am I to decide? Well, as previously mentioned, I work with history. I bath myself in the past because it allows me to perceive the future with a healthy and educated assumption:

Dr. Evans is no false teacher. On the contrary. This gentleman is a leader. King pushed a righteous movement on civil rights through nonviolence and civil disobedience, inspired by his Protestant Christian beliefs and lifestyle. I believe, given our current political and societal situation, Dr. Evans is making headway appropriately. He is truly a maker of believers in our Era of Confusion. And you can’t say anything less of Dr. MLK, Jr.

I want to point out here the leadership qualities of fearless evangelicalism. Both Pastors carry these principle potentials of success. It’s nothing confusing:

So, you have a choice in life.

Follow what everyone else in society “recommends” for you? Or do you follow the truth in reality? Because here’s the deal, there is only one truth. It is the truth that both brings you to ultimate reality and a truth that brings you to humble understanding. If you can accept this notion, than you are one step closer to making sense of this whole puzzle that keeps growing around us.

Dr. Tony Evans is a leader of principle. He is a leader that carries all of the characteristics of a man that God has lifted into position to carry us. So, the question becomes… Are you a person of faith and principle? Or? Are you one of little faith? The leaders around us, whether elected or not, have been placed here by God Himself. It is only He who allows leadership to appear for us to grab onto.

Dr. Martin Luther King, was also in his place, said this Aug 28, 1963- steps of the Lincoln Memorial … Dr Martin Luther King, Jr … delivered a speech …

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal.” … I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today.

Further: I am convinced that if we are to get on the right side of the world revolution, we as a nation must undergo a radical revolution of values. We must rapidly begin the shift from a “thing-oriented” society to a “person-oriented” society. When machines and computers, profit motives and property rights are considered more important than people, the giant triplets of racism, materialism, and militarism are incapable of being conquered….A true revolution of values will lay hands on the world order and say of war: “This way of settling differences is not just.” This business of…filling our nation’s homes with orphans and widows, of injecting poisonous drugs of hate into veins of people normally humane, of sending [combatants] home from dark and bloody battlefields physically handicapped and psychologically deranged, cannot be reconciled with wisdom, justice and love.

And there it is… in simple fashion…

Dr. Tony Evans of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship? Our Modern-Day Martin Luther King, Jr.
