Mitchell: If You Have Not Already Ordered Christmas Gifts, It May Be Too Late

I am the epitome of the “last-minute shopper” but, this year, I got it in early. And still, it was almost too late.

I used to be the husband/dad running to the mall/stores a day or two before Christmas to buy presents. With the introduction of online shopping, I learned that 5 days before Christmas was the new “I hate to shop” gift buying day.

Thanks to the supply chain crisis, (let’s go Brandon) … apparently we have to buy our gifts TEN days before Christmas or they won’t be here in time. And, that’s if you can find what you want at all.

My wife and kids make their wishlists in November. Normally, I start going through them in early December to figure out my Christmas budget and start ordering things between the 15th and 21st. This year, I had to order EVERYTHING before the 15th or it wasn’t going to get here in time.

Despite the crap Biden and Buttigieg are spewing about how they’ve fixed the supply chain mess, Christmas gifts are harder to find, much more expensive, and take a lot longer to get to their destinations.

I placed a few orders on the 12th and all of them looked set to get to their destinations by about the 16th. Then the shipping updates started rolling in. Now, most of those won’t reach their places under Christmas trees until the 20th or 21st.

Several of the items I tried to order on the 15th weren’t going to get there in time or had massive markups. Either way, I had to search for alternatives. That’s time I didn’t have – and did I mention that I hate shopping?

After way too many hours searching for alternative outlets and alternative gifts, I have supposedly ordered everything just in time for Christmas Eve – at least until the next round of shipping updates hits me.

If you’re a last-minute shopper. Today is it. Actually, yesterday might have been it. So … get busy … or just tell everyone you’re saving the planet by buying less stuff.

That’ll work.
