A police officer arrested a state prosecutor and her friend in Newport, Rhode Island, Thursday on trespassing charges after she repeatedly tried to throw her weight around.

Special Assistant Attorney General Devon Hogan Flanagan of Rhode Island had been asked to leave a restaurant before local police were called to the scene, according to TMZ. Bodycam video posted on YouTube by NBC 10 WJAR showed the interaction between Flanagan, her friend Veronica Hannan and the police, with Flanagan demanding the officer turn his bodycam off while saying she was “an AG” almost a dozen times.

“I want you to turn your bodycam off,” Flanagan is seen demanding of the officer at the start of their encounter. “Protocol is that you turn it off when a citizen requests you to turn it off.”

Rhode Island law prohibits police officers from turning off their bodycams, TMZ reported.

“We’re not trespassing. You haven’t notified us that we’re trespassing,” Flanagan claimed an instant after an officer informed them they needed to leave or they would be charged with trespassing.

An apparently intoxicated and combative Flanagan repeatedly told the officers she was with the attorney general’s office during the incident, and again asked the officers to turn off their cameras, even after the officers told them they were trespassing.

“Good for you, I don’t give a shit,” the officer said in response.

After about two minutes, a police officer put Flanagan in handcuffs, prompting Hannan to become more combative. The video showed Hannan attempting to flee and slipping out of her handcuffs before police caught her and slapped the cuffs back on.

“No! No! No! Babe, no!” Hannan screams as the officer moves her to the back of the SUV, while trying to use her feet to keep the officer from closing the door.

Police charged Flanagan with trespassing, while Hannan faces charges of trespassing, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, according to TMZ.

Democratic Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha is investigating the matter, he said during a Tuesday appearance on a local talk radio show, according to the Providence Journal.

“Look, she’s put me in a bad position. She’s embarrassed herself, humiliated herself, treated the Newport Police Department horribly,” Neronha said during the interview.
