American Institution Older Than The Lightbulb Just Got Rescued From Extinction

The Farmers’ Almanac was purchased by a new owner on Wednesday, saving the publication from “permanent closure,” according to a press release.
The 208-year-old publication was “acquired under new ownership” by Farmers’ Almanac LLC, a “New York-based company dedicated to preserving and sustaining the iconic publication,” according to the press release. The Farmers’ Almanac was originally founded in 1818 by David Young and Jacob Mann and has been in continuous production since then.
“Following the announcement that the Farmers’ Almanac would conclude publication after its 2026 edition due to financial pressures, the new ownership moved quickly to secure the future of one of the nation’s oldest continuously published periodicals,” the release stated.
Tim Konrad, founder of media company Unofficial Networks and new owner of Farmers’ Almanac, stated that it “felt wrong to stand by while an irreplaceable piece of our national heritage disappeared.”
“The Farmers’ Almanac is more than just a book—it’s a living link to generations of knowledge and curiosity about the natural world,” he continued. “We have been working closely with the dedicated Farmers’ Almanac team to preserve the trusted content readers have relied on since 1818, including long-range weather forecasts, gardening wisdom, astronomical insights, practical advice, humor, and the publication’s distinctive voice.”
Konrad did not respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Peter Geiger, Editor Emeritus of the Almanac, said in the press release, “An American tradition continues!” Geiger stated that he is “grateful to have found the right custodian” in Konrad, and that he is “confident he will honor its heritage and carry it forward for generations to come.”
