Does the Left Really Hear and Believe What They are Spewing

What is happening today between the Left and Right has become so diametrically opposed that it reminds me of the Seinfeld episode, Bizarro World. In that famous, and very funny, episode, Jerry and his gang cross paths with a very similar cast of characters who are the exact opposites of our main characters. Jerry, Elaine, Kramer, and George are looking at the good and pure versions of themselves. Bizarro World was a great episode and a very interesting storyline, but it was fiction, and we could enjoy it as entertainment. What is happening in our real world is almost scary. Can two groups of people look at the same real-life situations, analyze the same facts, and come up with two views that are polar opposites, and do this with every daily situation, regardless of the topic? What we are seeing is far more intense than a severe case of TDS. In our version of Bizarro World, we have 75 million people seeing things one way and the other 75 million seeing their own version of reality. Both factions cannot be correct.

Here is just one example. Jessica Tarlov, the Progressive at the table on The Five, was bemoaning the 90-minute lie-filled oratory by Trump on Tuesday night. By the way, Jessica to me is fingernails on the chalkboard, and she makes me long for a spinoff show called The Four. She was referring to the murder of 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska, who was fatally stabbed on the Charlotte light rail last August. Trump had Iryna’s mother in the gallery of the SOTU, and was using the horrific incident as an example of our broken legal system, where dangerous criminals are released back into society with low or no bail. I went back and listened to the entire segment of Trump’s speech, and not once did he refer to Iryna’s killer (forget alleged) as an illegal alien. However, Jessica heard those words emanate from Trump’s lying lips and was adamant that this was an example of Trump’s mountain of lies that the rest of us heard as one of Trump’s finest speeches ever. Listen to the clip, the facts, the reality, and there is no room for two interpretations. But if Jessica and the rest of the Left can string enough of these falsehoods together, they see Trump as the most dishonest man amongst the most dishonest den of cretans ever assembled in one city.

I watched some of the alternative rallies held by the Left during the SOTU address. From Joy Reid singing off-key in Washington to the cast of unknown legislators dancing with people in frog costumes in Portland, the Democrats failed miserably at five such events to make a legitimate argument against Trump and the Republicans. These rallies were not even a unique idea, as they were stolen from the Turning Point alternative to Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance. There was not one productive counterargument to the list of Trump’s initiatives and accomplishments in the first year of his second term. There was just hatred for the man and his supporters. That is the problem with today’s political debate. It is not a debate, but a battle between the facts on the Right and emotions, mostly hatred, on the Left. Nobody wins the current debate, as both sides just keep digging deeper down the rabbit hole for their own semblance of reality. Which bizzaro storyline is the American voter going to buy?
