Pride-Flag Toting Educator Rants That ‘MAGA Teachers’ Shouldn’t Exist

A teacher called for an employment “oath” that would exclude educators who supported President Donald Trump in a video posted on TikTok in January.
Nicolle Carney Campbell, a one-time Teacher of the Year in the Santa Ana Unified School District in California, made the comments in a Jan. 27 post on the social media site once tied to the Chinese Communist Party. Carney Campbell, who also had a variant of the “pride” flag on her bulletin board, later claimed that “MAGA teachers” hurt the students they were teaching with how they voted.

“I’ve been thinking about this a lot for years actually. How do we have so many MAGA teachers? Saying those two words together like makes me want to throw up in my mouth,” Carney Campbell said. “What a lot of people don’t realize is although teaching is a career for passionate people, and there are so many incredible teachers who care so deeply about kids, who want to help society, unfortunately, teaching isn’t like being a doctor where you take an oath to protect and serve and put your patient first and yada yada. We don’t take an oath to protect students. We don’t take an oath.”
“I think that’s how, unfortunately, we get some pretty lazy, pathetic, and selfish people in this profession. MAGA teachers exist,” Carney Campbell continued. “They’re not really quiet about it either, and shockingly, a lot of them work in neighborhoods that they should not be working in, with communities that they should not be around because of how they vote against them and how they feel towards them. Our students deserve better, and I don’t know if this will ever be fixed unless we add a freaking oath. To this type of service.”
Carney Campbell has a history of left-wing activism posted on her social media pages on TikTok and Instagram. In one post, she said she tried to “dress as LGBTQ+ as possible” and requesting fashion tips.
“How embarrassing to be a MAGA teacher,” Carney Campbell said. “How embarrassing for you.”
