It is Past Time to Retire Jim Crow

The Supreme Court delivered a ruling a few weeks ago that the entire country should have celebrated, finding that it is unconstitutional for states to realign Congressional districts based on race. This ruling, though not unanimous, is further proof of how far this country has come since the days of slavery and the treatment of Blacks as inferior beings. SCOTUS has said that in America, we are colorblind, and no decision in any facet of life can isolate or treat people differently based on skin color. It is amazing to see the Democrats go apoplectic as states are redistributing based on population and not by the demographics of a region. The Party that loves to accuse Republicans of racism is showing how hypocritical they are as they claim that “Black districts” are being eliminated. The Party that preaches America needs to treat every person as an equal, now wants Blacks isolated and treated specially, so that they will remain united by district boundaries to preserve their right to have people of similar Color represent them.

The ironic thing this week is the heated atmosphere in Tennessee as their actions to redistrict will eliminate a predominantly Black region. This debate and result drew many to the statehouse to protest with chants of Jim Crow and comments from some of the protestors that they felt like they were attending a KKK meeting. Both of these claims are ignorant and completely at odds with reality. The current congressman from this district is White. A predominantly Black district elected a White representative, and his name is not Jim Crow. The Jim Crow laws were state and local laws introduced in the Southern United States in the late 19th and early-to-mid-20th centuries that enforced racial segregation. The redistricting is eliminating any consideration of Color, period.

It was not that long ago that Joe Biden was addressing a mostly Black audience and made the following rude and crude statement: “If you don’t vote for me, you ain’t black.” The Democratic Party felt that they owned the Black vote and took it for granted. They wanted the votes, but did little for the Black voters. They embraced BLM, but just a few years ago, buried and celebrated the life and service of Robert Byrd. Byrd served as U.S. Senator from West Virginia for over 50 years, and his resume indicates that his previous occupation was Grand Wizard of the KKK. You cannot make this up, and the person who gave the eulogy at Byrd’s funeral was none other than Scranton Joe, Vice President Joe Biden.

The old-school Democrats are not the only hypocrites on the Left. In 2020, Sandy Cortes made the erroneous claim that Latinos are Black, thereby lumping all Black and Browns under one big tent. This is the same woman who killed the Amazon facility being built in New York City because she did not understand the difference between a government check and a tax break. She cost thousands of people of Color in her district great jobs with good wages and a solid financial future. The Democrats are proving every day that they have no understanding of Democracy or Capitalism, have no solid policies or agenda, and are only more intent with every day and every election to be one step closer to tearing down America.
