Chuck Schumer Is Self-Destructing

Chuck Schumer began the end of his political career a week ago when he joined the Republicans to keep the government open and voted for the Continuing Resolution. It may have been the right thing to do for the country, but it is proving to be political suicide for the leader of the Democrat Party. It is not clear yet what Schumer got in return from the Republicans for his yes vote, but what he has gotten from the Democrats is the cold shoulder. It has been said that Schumer’s approval rating is somewhere between Elon Musk and Ebola. Chuck Schumer may never return from this exile.

Chuck has embarked on a book tour for his new work, “Antisemitism In America: A Warning.” Schumer is the highest-ranking Jewish member of the Federal Government, but I think you would be hard-pressed to find many Jewish people who think he is a friend of the Jews or Israel. He is booked this week on many liberal shows on network and cable to promote his book, assuming he will find a friendly audience. He was dead wrong about the reaction to his vote on the CR, and he is even wrong about the response he would get from the Left-leaning media.

On Tuesday, Schumer appeared on The View, which is always a favorable spot for folks on the Left. Chuck Schumer found himself as the new piece of fresh meat in the lion’s den. Sonny Hostin wasted no time to go on the attack.

While she noted that she and Schumer are friends, she told him this morning, “It gives me no pleasure to say this to you… but I think you caved. I think you and nine other Democrats caved.”

She continued, “I don’t think you showed the fight that this party needs right now, because you’re playing by a rule book where the other party has thrown that rule book away,” as Schumer nodded along to her remarks and even said, “True.”

Hostin added, “So in my view, what you did really was in supporting that G.O.P. partisan bill that Democrats had no input in, you cleared the way for Donald Trump and Elon Musk to gut Social Security, to gut Medicare, to gut Medicaid. Why did you lead Democratic senators to play by that book that the Republicans are not playing by?”

Hostin was wrong in her only premise. There is no indication that Trump or Musk are gutting Social Security or Medicare. Instead, they are only targeting fraud or corruption in every department of government. This claim is used to evoke the greatest reaction from the Left. It is not working, but Schumer simply nodded his head in agreement with Hostin’s claims.

Schumer got a similar response on ABC, CBS, and CNN. His book tour was not going as planned, and his vote could not have come at a worse time for sales. After the last few days, Chuck Schumer has canceled his tour, claiming security issues. He may find the same security issues when he returns to the Capital and the Senate Chambers.
