How Safe Do You Feel with That Oncoming Tractor-Trailer?

The numbers are staggering and incomprehensible, showing just how little concern these blue-state governors have for you and me. During the first 6 months of 2026, there have been 28,000 CDL licenses that have been granted to illegal immigrants and have since been revoked. That number is large enough to accentuate the scope and danger on our streets and highways. Still, the estimate of more than 200,000 CDL licenses in the hands of people who are untrained and ignorant of the English language, which is written on all road signs, should be enough to give you intense anxiety when traveling America’s roads.

Three of the states that have been the most liberal in granting these licenses are California, New York, and Massachusetts. When Massachusetts Governor Healy was asked about granting the CDLs, she responded, “These people are going to drive with or without a license, so we may as well issue them one.” Her saying that is as absurd as the practice of these liberal states. When Tom Homan, “border czar” for Trump’s second presidency, was asked to respond to Healy’s remarks, he said, “Let her call the family of Trooper Pahira and say that.” Trooper Pahira was a Pennsylvania trooper recently killed when hit by a truck driven by Michael Bon, an illegal alien from Haiti, who was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide and involuntary manslaughterICE lodged a detainer for him the day after his arrest.

According to federal data and statements from the Trump administration’s Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), at least 17 fatal crashes involving non-domiciled CDL holders (often linked to undocumented or improperly documented immigrants) were identified in 2025, resulting in around 30 deaths. The overall number of fatal large-truck crashes is in the thousands annually (e.g., ~4,000–5,000 fatal crashes per year in recent data). The cited incidents represent a small fraction (~0.3–1% in some mid-2025 snapshots), though proponents argue that even a few preventable cases justify action given their severity.

There are many issues with illegals holding CDL licenses, despite the initial fact that they are here illegally. These individuals are not receiving the extensive training required to safely drive a commercial vehicle, and many of these drivers are not able to comprehend roadside signs, including geographic and safety notices. This practice is completely avoidable, and there is no definitive answer as to the motivation of states to ignore protocol and issue these licenses except to accommodate illegals in every facet of life. This consideration is given to illegal aliens at the expense of the safety of all Americans.

The Trump Administration, through the DOT, is working to stop this practice, including by withholding federal funding from states that continue issuing these CDLs. Whether the CDL situation, Title IX violations, or harboring illegals from ICE. The TDS suffered by leaders of these blue states far outweighs the need to ensure the security and safety of their residents.
