Slotkin Caught on Hidden Camera Promising Democrats’ ‘Signature Cases’ Against Trump Team

Sen. Elissa Slotkin told a stranger in an undercover video that Democrats have a list of “signature cases” ready to pursue against the Trump administration if they win control of Congress.

The video was obtained by Townhall, which said it was recorded Thursday while the Michigan Democrat campaigned for congressional candidate Sean McCann.

Slotkin had not publicly addressed the footage as of Saturday morning.

In the clip, the person filming tells Slotkin, “I’m worried that we’re going to be too nice,” and asks what Democrats will do to hold “the Trump regime and its collaborators responsible,” adding, “I’m talking prosecutions.”

“I’m with you,” Slotkin answers. “So basically, assuming we win both houses, even if we just win one, we’ll come up– we have a list of, like, the ‘signature cases.'”

She described them as cases that are “so egregious, such a violation of law, such a corruption case,” and said that “in every committee, there will be the ‘signature cases’ that we– where we hold people accountable.”

Slotkin said she went to Budapest because Hungary “just got rid of their authoritarian leader after 16 years,” and that Hungarians used the same “signature cases” strategy.

“How did you handle 16 years of corruption? We don’t have that much, but we have so much,” she recalled asking.

She named likely targets: the ballroom project in the White House East Wing, the reflecting pool renovation on the National Mall, “or $200 million in, you know, from the Defense Department.”

Then she offered a forecast: “So that’s what you’ll see basically in January.”

Second Round of Backlash

The recording lands two weeks after Slotkin drew fire for remarks at an Oct. 13 University of Chicago event, where she first used the phrase “signature cases.”

There, she said she wanted to focus “not just on the president, but on the people who enabled him.”

At that event, she said she wanted young graduates weighing a job in the administration to think, “Lord, that might be buying myself a ton of problems.” She added, “I want that deterrence message.”

Law professor Jonathan Turley wrote on X that Slotkin had “said the quiet part out loud.”

Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor called those comments “endorsing political prosecutions to dissuade patriotic Americans from serving their country.” The remarks also drew an ethics complaint against the senator.

Slotkin dismissed the uproar as “manufactured outrage” in an Oct. 19 CNN interview. “You’re not breaking the law? No problem,” she said, insisting she only wants accountability for illegal conduct, not political views.

In the new video, she goes further, describing a committee-by-committee effort ready for January if Democrats win either the House or the Senate on Tuesday.
