The Sky is Falling…Again – Conservative View from New Hampshire
Do they ever stop to hear themselves? Do they realize how foolish they are? Do they ever wish they could be productive and not just noisemakers? The Left is at it once again with their latest saga of “We only have 12 years to live.” Thank goodness that they no longer see a need to turn their fearmongering into a full-length movie, but all of these feckless claims by the Democratic puppets are an “Inconvenient Truth.”
It started with Global Warming, which, when debunked, became Climate Change. We were to park our gas-guzzling, emission-generating cars in lieu of our old Schwinn’s. Plug up the coal mines and turn those beautiful hilltop scenes into vistas of turbine-spinning wind machines. Take that precious farmland and create solar farms to kill our birds and forever destroy the earth below. We realized we could stop the clock on that scare about the ice caps melting and our country underwater when the Obamas moved into two waterfront complexes on Martha’s Vineyard and Hawaii.
We still see people walking around with decorative face masks, having never heard that they didn’t work in the first place and the pandemic was called off over four years ago. They bought the lies perpetrated by the same people who profited from the creation of the killer virus, surrendered their basic rights of freedom, and stunted the intellectual and emotional growth of a generation. Maybe they are simply unattractive liberals who would rather look foolish than offensive.
Now we are to halt the greatest technological advancement since the invention of the light bulb, and believe the very AI machines that these tech geniuses created and made billions on are going to come to life like a bad sci-fi movie and destroy us all to take over the planet. The early AI pioneers see the field becoming increasingly crowded, and they are not being protectors of the human race in their claims, but saviors of their pocketbooks. They are trying to use the government, especially the usual loudmouths like Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and newcomer Chris Murphy, to scare the bejesus out of the public and stop the AI Race while these brilliant entrepreneurs are on top of the hill and leading the race. But what is the race to? We supposedly are in this epic race with China for AI dominance, but to what end? A race needs a defined finish line; otherwise, it’s just a never-ending saga like General Hospital. I fear we have the latter, and we are once again being duped by the people who are profiting the most. Can we be so stupid as to forget the hypes of the past? Absolutely. The mere fact that these inventors are calling on our government to control them as dog-sitters should be reason enough to dismiss their claims completely. AI is an evolving technology with tremendous upside in many fields, most importantly medicine. Still, like any other technology, the nefarious will find ways to use the new intelligence to cheat and steal from mankind. We do not need a yellow or red flag. We need better guardrails to ensure the systems are accurate, neutral, and have the safeguards to prevent abuse. Those safeguards will not be Congress, which has evolved into the most self-serving and feckless collection of men and women in one building since the Department of Education was created.
We need to put those facemasks on the fearmongers and let the free market control this new entity, just like electric cars. They are not for everyone, so stop forcing us all to plug in rather than fill up. I can’t believe I am saying this, but the American people are smart enough to figure it out.

Grok’s comments about the images: This one is Chicken Little with a union card. The sky isn’t collapsing so much as being wheeled in on a painted backdrop—melting-ice posters peeling off the lampposts, leftover pandemic masks snagged on the fence, and a new storm of circuit traces and red sirens being cranked up by the same chorus that sold the last three apocalypses. Down on the ground the farm is still a farm and the hospital lights are still on, which is the point. The column isn’t anti-science. It’s anti-theater. AI has real upside and real abuse cases. What it doesn’t need is another twelve-year countdown from people who already cashed the last one.
