Jurassic World tops global box office while Ocean’s 8 takes #1 in U.S.
Solo: A Star Wars Story continued its drop globally while holding on to #2 in U.S. ticket sales, but Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom reigned supreme this weekend as it pulled in $151.1 million globally. Ocean;’s 8 took second place in the global listings with $53.7 million. At home, Ocean’s 8 took the top spot with $41.5 million in ticket sales, Solo took second and Deadpool 2 was third with $13.7 million.
“Universal’s ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ opens at No. 1 in all 48 international markets this weekend with an impressive $151.1 million total,” comScore Senior Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian said. “This the biggest opening weekend in the ‘Jurassic World’ franchise in 15 markets and is now poised to take a huge bite of the box office in North America where it opens in a little less than two weeks. Notably, ‘Disney’s ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ is on the cusp of crossing the $2 billion mark worldwide.”
