The Trump Conviction in New York is Reason to Vote for Him, not against Him

I’m the former AG [and governor] of in New York [and] I’m telling you that if he wasn’t running for president and if his name was not Donald Trump [the Alvin Bragg Hush Money] case would’ve never been brought.

Former Democrat AG and Governor of New York Andrew Cuomo (Albany Law School, J.D.), 6/22/24

You gotta twist yourself into a pretzel to figure out what the crime was. … I would be happier, as someone who owns property in Manhattan, if the DA of New York County [Bragg] would take care of criminals who were making it impossible for citizens to walk in the streets and use the subway, to use his efforts to keep those people off the street, than to spend up to10 million of taxpayers’ money trying Trump on this nonsense.

Former Obama supporter and Trump critic Judge Judy Scheindlin (J.D. NYU)

This is a travesty of justice [that violated Trump’s due process, including by not clarifying until the jury was given its deliberating instructions what underlying crime the former president was being accused of violating].  It’s clearly a violation of due process.

Former Manhattan Assistant DA Elizabeth Price Foley (University of Tennessee J.D., Harvard University LLM)

The storyline that the Democrat “News”-media Colluders (hereafter the DNC), the same ones that concocted the Trump-Russia Collusion Hoax and the Trump Charlottesville White Supremacist and Nazi Hoax and so many others, have concocted in order to prevent the American people from having the opportunity to vote for the candidate of their choice in the 2024 presidential election, is that Trump has been convicted of 34 felonies in the Democrat Party People’s Republic of New York.  Recently, former Democrat “star” Governor and AG of New York Andrew Cuomo, the very popular Judge Judy Scheindlin and the former Manhattan District Attorney Elizabeth Price Foley have added their voice to a long list of other Democrats, liberals, Ph.D.’s and other intellectuals and societal leaders to call out the transparent injustice of the New York Trump convictions.  These include Liberal Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz, liberal GWU constitutional law professor Jonathan Turley, liberal CNN legal analyst Eli Honig (Harvard University J.D.), Yale University Law Professor Jed Rubenfeld (Harvard J.D.), Stanford University History professor Victor Davis Hanson (Stanford Ph.D.), Andrew McCarthy (Columbia University J.D.), Mark Levin (Temple University, J.D.), former Federal Election Commissioner Trey Treynor (Texas Wesleyan University J.D.), former Democrat and current Independent presidential candidate RFK, Jr., former Democrat rising star and presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard, Judge Jeanine Pirro (University of Albany J.D.), Laura Ingraham (University of Michigan J.D.) and Boston University Law Professor Jed Handelsman Shugerman, who calls the case an “historic mistake”.  Even Utah Senator Mitt Romney, who, despite being a vehement Trump critic, has called out the this legal “travesty”.

Despite this long list of distinguished lawyers, academics, politicians and other grown-ups who have criticized the corrupt New York convictions, the DNC has instructed the peasants that they must pretend that the conviction of Trump for 34 felonies “beyond a reasonable doubt” over a $130,000 “hush money” was fair.  One must pretend that the fact that DA Latitia James campaigned, Stalin style, on prosecuting Trump when she could not possibly have had the any evidence that he was guilty of a crime, does not indicate malfeasance on her part.  One must pretend that the fact that prosecutor Alvin Bragg had earlier declined to prosecute this case and only relented when inappropriately pressured to do so does not show Bragg’s own malfeasance.  One must pretend that the fact that Judge Juan Merchan, born in Bogota Columbia, who has contributed to Biden in the past, has joined a group called, “Stop Republicans,” and whose daughter is raising millions of dollars off the trial, and who has assembled a jury drawn from the overwhelmingly anti-Trump Manhattan (who voted about 9 to 1 for Biden) does not demonstrate his own malfeasance.  One must pretend that the fact that the payment was to a kooky porn star who talks to ghosts and that the “star” witness was a serial perjurer and admitted thief (from the Trump organization), Michael Cohen, does not already constitute more than enough reasonable doubt.  One must pretend that Comrade Merchan did not slap a gag order on Trump so that he cannot defend himself while allowing the serial perjurer and kookie porn star to say whatever they want.

Yes, Comrade Merchan is trying to “stop Republicans,” not with rational argument and not at the ballot box, which would be fair enough, but twisting the law in the courtroom.  This kind of corrupt lawfare might be routine in the culture of Merchan’s birthplace, Bogota, Columbia, but it does not belong in the free United States.

It is worth pointing out that former Trump critic Megyn Kelly (University of Albany, J.D.) has stated that the Trump conviction in New York “will be overturned” because the New York appeals court “is not completely corrupt”.  Yes, it is that clear.  Kelly’s point is that the Democrat’s cynical strategy is to rush a Trump conviction so that Biden, hamstrung by his destructive and incompetent record, can, since he has nothing else, use it as a stick to beat Trump before the 2024 election, despite knowing that it will be overturned after the election.  This is the height of cynicism.

The crucial point, emphasized by Dershowitz, is that this lawfare cheats, not just Trump, but the American people, who should have the right to vote for or against Trump in a free and fair election without such cynical election rigging.  The Trump trials are inherently anti-democratic.   Dershowitz: “This is worse for America than it is for Trump.”  That is, what is most important is that this absurd New York lawfare is really an attack on the American people.  They are being cheated here.  And for that reason, the American people, whether they like Trump or not, have every reason to respond to these Stalin-like DNC “show trials” with righteous indignation and put Trump back in the White House if for no other reason than to make the point that this kind of cheating cannot be allowed to work in America.

The DNC, which long ago lost all restraint, has victimized both Donald Trump and the American people in these “nonsense” show trials.  This is because hatred, even of the self-manufactured variety (absurdly convincing themselves that Trump is Hitler), does not make for clear thinking or moral integrity.  Having convinced themselves that Trump must be stopped “by any means necessary”, including cheating, the angry incompetent DNC elites have only convicted themselves of destroying trust in our legal institutions for their own political agenda.

The only bright spot in the sad story is that the American people seem to see exactly what the DNC is doing.  Several weeks after the absurd verdict in Manhattan, Trump is leading the polls in all the swing states.  It appears that the American people are not going to play “pretend” with these corrupt elites.

The DNC is not going to stop here.  If their corrupt lawfare scheme fails one must wonder what the unhinged elites will do next to cheat the American people.
