Secret Service Arrests Armed Venezuelan Near White House After Alleged Trump Kill Threat

U.S. Secret Service officers arrested an illegal immigrant from Venezuela near the White House on Thursday after he was found in a stolen vehicle with three firearms and allegedly said voices told him to kill President Donald Trump, the Department of Homeland Security said.

According to a DHS statement Friday, officers approached Ronny Yordrix Guanipa Chrinos on Constitution Avenue in Washington, D.C., after he appeared to be acting suspiciously in a parked car.

When confronted, DHS said, Chrinos told officers he heard voices directing him to come to Washington and kill Trump. Officers then learned the vehicle had been reported stolen, and he admitted weapons were inside.

A search recovered three firearms — including an AR-15-style rifle, a Mac 10 and a Glock 43X — plus dozens of rounds of ammunition, DHS said. Photos released by the department showed the weapons laid out after the arrest.

Biden-Era Release, ICE Detainer

Chrinos illegally entered through Texas in March 2024, was arrested by Border Patrol, and was released into the United States under the Biden administration, DHS said. After Thursday’s arrest, ICE lodged a detainer with the U.S. Marshals Service, where he is in custody.

Charges listed by DHS include carrying a rifle outside a home or business; three counts each of unlawful firearm transport, unregistered firearms and unregistered ammunition; possession of certain dangerous weapons; carrying a pistol without a license; unauthorized use of a motor vehicle; theft; and receiving stolen property.

“Thanks to our brave Secret Service officers, this illegal alien with three firearms in his vehicle was arrested near the White House before he could harm anyone,” Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said in the statement.

Secret Service Director Sean Curran said the episode reflects a “heightened threat environment” and “the continued number of armed individuals who are drawn to the White House complex.”

“While our personnel are trained to respond to situations like this and we remain confident in our tactics, we are alarmed by the increase in threat cases that continue to arise,” Curran said, pledging more proactive work to disrupt threats before they reach Washington.

Fox News noted recent security scares around the capital, including a man found near Capitol Hill with a guillotine in a pickup and separate vehicle rammings of White House barricades in 2025 and 2026.

Prosecutors have not yet detailed a formal assassination-plot indictment beyond the weapons, theft and vehicle counts DHS listed. Officials nonetheless treated the stated intent and the rifle near the White House as an imminent threat that required an immediate takedown.

For an administration that campaigned on ending catch-and-release, DHS’s emphasis that Chrinos was freed after a 2024 border arrest is the political core of the release — a concrete case tying prior immigration policy to a threat at the president’s doorstep.
