Trump Offers $1 Million for Voter Fraud Tips as DOJ Charges 48 Noncitizens
President Donald Trump on Monday offered $1 million to anyone whose report of voter fraud leads to an arrest and conviction, eight days before the Nov. 3 midterm elections.
“Anybody reporting Voter Fraud in the past Elections, or the upcoming 2026 Midterm Election, will be paid $1,000,000 upon the arrest and conviction of those that created the Fraud!” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post Monday afternoon.
The post did not say where the money would come from, ABC News noted. It is also unclear whether the reward is tied to a federal whistleblower program announced last week, Just the News reported.
That program, the Justice Department’s Fraud Whistleblower Incentive Program, was announced Oct. 20. It pays $10,000 to $30,000 for tips that lead to criminal charges and covers fraud such as health care and benefits schemes. The Treasury committed $25 million to it.
Tips under that program are submitted through the website america.gov/fraud. The first award went to independent journalist Nick Shirley, whose videos alleging fraud have drawn wide attention on social media.
At the White House launch, Trump said there would be “no limit” on rewards. “People will make millions of dollars by turning others in,” he said, The Hill reported.
Critics have described the administration’s election moves as federal overreach, Reuters reported.
48 Noncitizens Charged
The reward came the same day the Justice Department announced charges involving 48 noncitizens accused of election crimes in Pennsylvania, California, Florida, New York and Nevada.
Forty-seven of the 48 are lawful permanent residents, or green card holders, and one was in the country illegally, the Washington Examiner reported. Prosecutors allege they registered or voted in the 2020, 2022 and 2024 federal elections. One defendant is accused of voting in a June 2026 primary.
The cases include an 81-year-old Ecuadorian national in Florida. Another defendant, Omar Alexander Muñoz, allegedly voted in 2020, twice in 2022 and again in 2024. Some defendants allegedly registered on Election Day 2024.
Noncitizens are barred from voting in federal elections, and lying about citizenship on a registration form is a federal crime. The department noted that the charges are allegations and that defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
The department has charged dozens of people with election-related crimes in recent weeks as the administration pushes to clear noncitizens from state voter rolls before the midterms.
Supporters of the crackdown argue every illegal vote effectively cancels out the vote of a citizen. Opponents say noncitizen voting is rare and has not been shown to change the outcome of any election.
Trump’s $1 million pledge goes well beyond the existing program’s limits, and the White House had not explained by Monday evening how the payouts would be funded or approved.
